Dear All,
You are invited to join us for a Walk to show support for community sports and leisure
facilities to be provided within the proposed campus development. The walk will take
place on the 6th of July @ 6.00 pm. We will meet at Wootton Bassett Town Hall at
5.45 & walk to St Barts junior school. Upon arrival at the school we intend to hand
over a petition to the chairman of the Area Board which supports the need for a swimming
pool along with statements from local clubs & user groups expressing their request
for provision of sports and leisure facilities. Following this there is an Area board
meeting due to start at 6.30pm which can be attended by the public should you wish
to go. As many of you are aware, Wiltshire County Council have just completed the
public consultation survey on this matter and the Walk is intended to demonstrate
the passion of Wootton Bassett’s sporting & leisure community. The population of
the town is growing and it is important that the quality of its facilities cater
for this. It is recognized that there may be benefits to consolidating council services
in the campus but this should not take priority over the provision of sports leisure
services which play a pivotal role in the community. Our understanding is that there
are no real alternatives to the Lime Kiln site for the campus development and this
could be our last chance to show support in Wootton Bassett before important decisions
are made.
Thanks for your support; we look forward to seeing you there!
