Information & Communication

ü      Treat our members and parents with respect, be fair and helpful.

ü      Display details of the following on this website and the club notice board in the Lime Kiln Centre:-

  • time table of activities,

  • notice of gala’s,

  • results of gala’s,

  • notice of social events,

  • general information & latest news

ü      Issue a quarterly newsletter.

ü      Do our utmost to inform you in a timely manner if any of the sessions are cancelled.

 

ü      Treat the teaching personnel and staff with respect.

ü      Treat other members with respect, offering morale support as appropriate.

ü      Advise a member of staff if you have any concerns or problems - do not suffer in silence

ü      Seek clarification if you do not understand what is being asked

ü      Explain to your teacher if you are going to miss a session.

ü      Advise the Head Coach, Learn to Swim, or Life Saving Co-ordinator if you are going to be away for any length of time.

ü      At galas and competitions cheer for Otters, loudly, clearly and with great enthusiasm – show you are part of a team

Health & Safety

ü      Ensure that safety procedures are adhered to at all times, this includes the attendance of a life guard.

ü      Ensure that training sessions are planned for the appropriate skill of the swimmer and contain the warm up and warm down elements.

ü      Do our utmost to ensure that we encourage confidence in the water and an enjoyment of the sport

ü      Ensure that all participants are assessed regularly.

ü      Ensure that opportunities for dayside warm up are provided.

ü      Ensure that all teaching personnel are aware of the child protection act and act accordingly.

ü      Make us aware of any medical conditions that are relevant to swimming or your physical fitness.

ü      Perform the appropriate warm up

ü      Behave sensibly in and around the pool.

ü      Behave sensibly at Land Training

ü      Dress appropriately for swimming and Land Training.

ü      Do not eat immediately before or during a swimming gala.

ü      Drink to keep hydrated, sip and not glug!

ü      No jewellery or watches during training.

Training

ü      Teach a progressive training programme

ü      Ensure that our members are challenged appropriately.

ü      Ensure that the needs of the swimmer are put before the needs of the club.

ü      As part of our training programme for Learn to Swim, Junior & Senior Development we will follow the NPTS.

ü      Remember that however hard a session is, swimming is for FUN!

ü      Encourage all Teaching personnel to further their education and develop their teaching skills.

ü      Ensure that we are up to date with the latest training techniques and will incorporate this in the training sessions.

ü      Do your best at all times and put in the appropriate amount of effort that is being asked.

ü      Attend sessions regularly

ü      Get to your session early, ready to start on time.

ü      Listen to the teacher and keep private conversations until after the session and do not duck under water!

ü      Remember that swimming is fun!

ü      Remember to do your best and that not all swimmers can be awarded medals.  Doing your best during training and competitions gives you a sense of satisfaction.

ü      Remember to bring the appropriate kit and to take it home again!

Atmosphere

ü      keep the club friendly club and involve all of the family.

ü      Remember that all of the teaching personnel are volunteers and are doing their best.

ü      Remember at away gals that you are representing the club and to present yourself and behave appropriately.

ü      Support social gatherings as much as possible

ü      If you are an adult with a little or a lot of spare time please offer your support to the club.

 

Data Protection

ü      Ensure that records are kept confidential.

ü      Seek clarification of what data is held if you are concerned.
